Once again, King’s celebrated an excellent set of A level results in 2026, with 51% of all grades awarded at A*-A, more than 80% of grades at A*-B, while 93% of grades achieved A*-C.

Results were particularly strong in maths – the most popular subject taken by King’s pupils in 2026 – further maths, economics and science.

The results highlight both academic excellence and breadth of achievement, with pupils excelling across STEM subjects, humanities, languages and the creative arts.

Behind the headline figures were many outstanding individual performances – 47 pupils secured straight A*-As across at least three A Level subjects, demonstrating achievement at the very highest level.

King’s Sixth Form is increasingly popular, with more joining in Lower Sixth (6b) than ever before in 2026. At the same time, King’s stellar A level results continue to improve. In 2024, an impressive 77.8% of grades were A*-B. In 2026, this rose to 81%.

The results are a testament to the ambition, talent and hard work of King’s pupils and support from inspiring teachers, reinforcing the school’s reputation for combining academic excellence with exceptional breadth of opportunity.

Year 11 GCSEs/IGCSEs Results 2026

Pupils at The King’s School Canterbury are celebrating an exceptional set of GCSE and IGCSE results, with 74% of all grades awarded at 9-7 and 54% awarded at the very highest grades of 9-8. Grade 9 was the most common grade achieved. Across the cohort, pupils secured well over 800 Grade 9 and Grade 8s, the highest number of top grades awarded since the introduction of the numerical grading system, while the School’s 74% 9-7 rate is also the strongest achieved since numerical grades were introduced.

The very highest achievements were particularly noteworthy. Nineteen pupils achieved a complete set of grades 9-8, while nine pupils secured nine or more Grade 9s, including two pupils who achieved ten Grade 9s. These exceptional outcomes place them amongst the highest-achieving GCSE students nationally.

University Destinations

Each year, King’s pupils progress to an outstanding range of universities in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Their destinations reflect not only exceptional academic attainment, but also the individuality and breadth of ambition fostered through a King’s education.

The majority of pupils take up places at leading Russell Group universities, with numbers progressing to Oxford or Cambridge growing in recent years. Others pursue specialist pathways at institutions of global distinction, such as London musical conservatoires.

Across disciplines as diverse as Engineering, Architecture, Medicine, Law, the Arts, and the Humanities, King’s leavers demonstrate both intellectual curiosity and a readiness to contribute to the wider world.

In 2025/6, 18 pupils pursued studies overseas at a range of institutions, including leading US destinations like Brown and NYU, alongside other globally elite institutions like Hong Kong University and Bocconi.
