The 1541 Society is our regular giving club for parents, OKS and friends who support King’s with a regular annual, quarterly, or monthly gift.
We are enormously grateful for the support of all those who have already given, or pledged to give, on a regular basis. Each donation (regardless of size) is greatly appreciated, as collectively a huge impact is made which provides the school with a reliable source of philanthropic income.
“I have witnessed first-hand the profound impact that a King’s education can have on a young person’s life.”
As its Founding Patron, it is with great pride that I introduce you to the 1541 Society – a regular giving club for friends who support the School with a recurring annual, quarterly or monthly gift.
As many of you will know, my connection to the school runs deep. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving as Governor, and now Governor Emerita, during which time, I have witnessed first-hand the profound impact that a King’s education can have on a young person’s life.
The 1541 Society represents a vital opportunity for us to open the School to a broader range of young people, whether this is through supporting transformational bursaries or our partnership programmes, such as Sounding Out. Our members’ generosity opens doors to experiences that shape futures and inspire aspirations, and for this we are enormously grateful.
Lady Kingsdown, Patron of the 1541 Society
Currently the 1541 Society supports the Charter Awards and brings us ever closer to our goal of increasing the number of full bursary places at the school to 50 by 2041.
As a thank you, all members of the 1541 Society join an important network of like-minded individuals, receiving regular updates on the impact of their support and the progress of the Charter Awards. Members will also receive a limited edition print*, produced by our first Charter Awards Bursary Pupil, and a yearly invite to an exclusive drinks event at the School.
If you’d like further information on the 1541 Society please contact Darren Ellis, Development Officer:

*To receive your limited edition print a donation of £5 a month or an annual donation of £60 is required
“The bursary has presented me with a plethora of opportunities I would have never thought I could experience. The difference in community, environment and didactic culture is such a stark, yet immensely enriching, shift from my previous state school life. The range of sports, the vast amount of specialist facilities and fun charming traditions and events sprinkled throughout the terms make school life an environment both to work hard and also to develop social independence and identity. I especially adore the art department; the small monk missionary made into a spacious and well-equipped facility. Alongside the more modern ceramics and photography block, there will be facilities that will allow me to artistically flourish, explore and refine my skills and passion for art. The bursary has provided me with the chance to sample new experiences, which I may or may not like, but I know they will stand me in good stead for the future.”

“If every OKS gave as little as £5 per week for 1 year, with Gift Aid, we would fund 3.5 full bursary placed for talented children, forever. Even if this was our only source of donations, this would mean we would achieve the Charter Awards goal 7 years before our target!”
How to Give
We welcome gifts of every size whether they are regular monthly, quarterly or annual gifts, single donations or gifts left in wills. Every contribution makes a difference.
