Pastoral Care

Soft landings, new beginnings

main-image

Moving to a new school, and country, can be a quite a change – which is why we always provide a ‘soft landing’ to ease the transition. This begins during the first week, with a reassuring four-day induction, introducing pupils to life in the College and Canterbury. Students enjoy high staffing levels and much of the team are multilingual, including the Joint Principals, who speak four languages between them.

“There’s always someone you can talk to. It makes for a wonderful environment.”

Each pupil belongs to a close-knit tutor group of no more than 10 pupils, and they meet with their tutor every day before lunch. Tutors also spend the evening in the boarding house and there are often two Matrons on duty throughout the day and evening. In addition, two or three members of staff sleep in the boarding house overnight.

The wellbeing and happiness of our pupils comes first, helping them to succeed on their own terms on what is an exciting new journey.

Co-curricular

The co-curricular programme at our International College is integrated with the Senior School, which means we can offer practically anything a pupil might be interested in, whether that is sport, music, foreign languages, art, or politics.
