Last week saw our incredible Senior Play: Welcome to Thebes by Moira Buffini take to the Malthouse Stage. The play featured 30 of our pupils giving heart-wrenching performances of the war-torn land of Thebes.

They explored beautifully the way in which a nation can rebuild itself after a war and questioned what makes a good leader. The play is a perfect reflection of our current world and our pupils gave testament to the tricky themes in their sophisticated performances.

The set and production values were superb: a helicopter landed on the stage in the first fifteen minutes of the play, before taking off again at the end. The sand-covered stage also had Grecian pillars rising out of the floor, giving a nod to the Ancient stories that are still relevant today.

Praise has been glowing for the performance, with parents commenting that: “It was the most amazing production. I am completely in awe of anyone who can wrestle such a slick and professional production out of actors who are, let’s be honest, still at school!

Well done to all of those involved, and we very much look forward to our next performance: A Night at the Musicals, in February.
